Just saw the Battle of Big rock short film, and I got to say I wasn't impressed. The battle on lasts a couple seconds before the herbivores run off, the little girl was annoying (monologues about dinosaurs while the dinosaurs were feet from them), and was no real sense of danger ( the parents don't emote when saving the baby and the little girl beats back the allosaurus with a crossbow). All this within an 8 minute time span.

  In conclusion, this short was not worth the hype by itself and should've at least announced other short films beforehand.

Square Enix just released their latest trailer for the remake of one their most popular games and I got say it looks incredible. Not only that but, we finally get out first look at my favorite virtual girl Tifa Lockhart and wow she looks great. Screw the inevitable haters she does look great. Just saw the new Godzilla movie, I can safely say it was a fun time. Warning below are potential spoilers.

 

    Cons:
-  a central plot aspect is straight out of "How to train your Dragon" and that may contradict the previous film.
- The introduction felt too a little fast pace including the when we meet the new characters and may effect first impression.
- Some of the CGI in some scenes just don't look that good.
- Some side characters occasional attempts at humor can make your eyes roll.
- The human Gillian doesn't do much beyond the first act.
- There's a huge call back to the first movie that I felt was too downplayed.
   Pros:
- The monsters were fantastic, they get enough screen time without a trace of those shitty cutouts from the first film. They look great, respecting their old Toho designs while given their own little spin on them. Godzilla actually feels like an essential character ( almost felt like a oversized cameo in the first movie). Finally the fights are a sight to behold, some of the best in the whole series.
- The music is phenomenal especially the the reworked versions of Akira Ifukabe's scores.
- The human are just ok. None of them come as incredibly stupid, even the main lady who pretty much caused all of the whole mess acts human as she was coming to terms of her mistake eventual redemption. Dr. Serizawa is definitely the best one of the bunch, and really benefits from the extra screen time.
- The overall message of environmental balance was presented appropriately and the movie does its best not be preachy or completely one sided, though during the ending credits the environmental recovery does off as too easy( the monsters prescence causes forests to grow veryquickly and animals are taken off the endangered species list within a short time) but overall the message is not obnoxiously shoved in face as it tends to happen in environmental movies.

Overall I think this addition to the Monsterverse was well done. Not fantastic but, not boring what so ever. It was very fun and we'll worth your time.

I give it a final rating of 7.7/10

Just saw Avengers Endgame tonight. All I can say it's definitely the movie of the decade.
